SAFETY COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

We are looking for a motivated Safety Coordinator to be a part of a solid team, supporting the facilitation of engaging orientations, leading powerful safety meetings, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, monitoring work performance, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture. Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Environment, and working closely with the site management, this position provides guidance and direction to all site workers including project management, employees, and subcontractors with respect to corporate and client safety policies, practices, procedures, and legislative requirements. The Safety Coordinator will be seen as a go-to for all things safety and as such, will walk the talk and exemplify the values of Morgan with Safety at the top.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts field level orientation for employees and subcontractors;
Participates and leads safety meetings as required;
Lead by example for all workers to model;
Encourages and promotes a safe work culture with a positive attitude and team centric approach;
Monitors the performance of work and ensures conformance to Morgan’s Safe Work Practices and Procedures;
Works with employees, foremen, supervisors and management to identify potential hazards on the work site;
Performs various levels of worksite inspections, attests, and audits, and follows through with appropriate levels of coaching and support for all corrective actions;
Proactively identifies leading indicators and trends in the field and communicates the same back to the field and corporate;
Investigates incidents and near misses with foremen and other key management;
Communicates established policies, practices and procedures to workers and remain informed on changes provided from the Director, Health, Safety and Environment.
Continuously considers opportunities in the safety management program bringing innovative, industry leading best practices and initiatives to the forefront for consideration.
Extensive driving to various project locations.
Be the “go to” for all things safety.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Advanced knowledge of OSHA (State & Federal) Safety Programs, MSHA and any other applicable government agencies:
Experience in heavy civil equipment operations (mining experience is a plus);
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office;
Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal/external individuals;
Effective time management and very organized;
Excellent communication, both written and verbal skills;
Exceptional organizational, leadership, data analysis, and communication skills (verbal and written):
Ability to work independently, show initiative, and prioritize tasks;
Physical fitness to stand, walk on various terrains, lift up to 50lbs, and work various schedules/rotations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years of Safety Coordinator experience in heavy equipment or civil construction.
College and technical training preferred in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
Direct experience with field safety management.
Safety tickets – OSHA 30, Hazwoper 40 and Lead Hazard for Construction
First Aid certification (required)
Must have reliable transportation to get to/from project site.
Must have (or be willing and able to obtain) required site safety tickets and orientations
Provide your own Approved safety boots that are a minimum of 6" high and fully laceable.
Flexibility to work day or night shift as required.
Must be able to work up to 12 hours per day
Shift rotations to be confirmed; must be flexible to work various rotations as required.
Clean driving abstract.
