The Heavy Equipment Coordinator is responsible for the strategic deployment and utilization of Morgan’s internal heavy equipment fleet, ensuring every project is outfitted with the right machines at the right time. This role partners closely with project managers and site teams to forecast equipment demand, manage fleet logistics, and source and negotiate rental equipment to supplement our fleet when required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the scheduling and deployment of Morgan’s internal heavy equipment fleet to meet the needs of active and upcoming projects across all work sites.
  • Work closely with the internal Operations team to forecast equipment requirements and allocate fleet resources to outfit jobs effectively and on time.
  • Identify gaps between available fleet inventory and project demands; source, evaluate, and secure rental equipment to supplement the fleet as required.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate competitive rental rates and contract terms, and manage vendor relationships to ensure best value for the company.
  • Coordinate logistics for equipment mobilization and demobilization between job sites, including transportation and permitting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fleet inventory, equipment status, utilization, and location across all active projects.
  • Liaise with the maintenance team to confirm equipment readiness and availability prior to scheduled deployments.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency, reduce idle time, and optimize allocation across the project portfolio.
  • Stay current on market rental rates, equipment availability trends, and new equipment entering the industry to support informed sourcing and fleet decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications /Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with a variety of heavy equipment, including dozers, haul trucks, shovels, excavators, and graders from major brands like CAT, John Deere, Hitachi, and Komatsu.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.

  • Collaborative communication style.
  • Demonstrated 2-5 years of equipment coordination experience within the heavy civil sector or exposure to heavy equipment operations.
  • Proficiency in thriving within a fast-paced work environment, consistently delivering prompt and efficient responses to a high volume of emails.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, meeting stringent deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced skillset utilizing MS Office, with a particular focus on Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where processes provide structure but adaptability and sound judgment are required.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accountability and takes ownership of work and results.
  • Exemplary organizational abilities, adept at managing multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, whether to internal or external clients.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends, as required.
